Multi-Disciplinary 200 Hour Teacher Training

Course Description:

Multi-Disciplinary Yoga Teacher Training is an intensive study of several yoga styles, blending classical yoga traditions with contemporary mind/body movements. In this program you will cultivate an understanding of the fundamental theories and practices of yoga as well as the technical know how to become a skillful teacher. Through curiosity and creativity, you will explore the many ways in which the great art of yoga expands and deepens our relationship to mind, body, and spirit.

You will discover and develop your own voice, style, and understanding of yoga in a fun and supportive environment. You will also emerge from the training prepared to teach with a new level of confidence, wisdom, and depth.

 

Course Curriculum:

  • Hatha Yoga Philosophy (Patanjali’s 8-limbed path)
  • Teaching Techniques & Methodology
  • Historical Pathways of Yoga
  • Anatomy & Physiology (Eastern and Western view)
  • Pranayama & Meditation
  • Classical & Contemporary Chanting
  • Teaching Practicum (Classes & Assisting)
  • Study groups

Requirements:

  • Six - twelve month minimum yoga experience
  • Attendance in all course sessions
  • Completion of all course requirements
  • Weekly attendance of 3 classes at Radiance Yoga
  • 40 day practice (meditation practice with journaling)
  • Full payment of course fees

Daniel E. Hickman

Daniel E. Hickman, is an international facilitator of yogic experiences who shares his knowledge drawn from over 25 years of exploration in the movement/performing arts and over 15 years as a yogi-educator. He provides in depth seminars, training for teachers as well as various retreats and outings into nature. He is originally from Washington, D. C. where he teaches at the Department of Justice, El Banco Interamericano de Desarollo and the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.  He is the author of 6 DVDs including the series Yoga Beginnings: Awareness and Vets Yoga.

In his past life, Daniel was an artist-educator in the Washingtonian theaters of the Barns of Wolf Trap, BAPA’s Imagination Stage, The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and The Smithsonian Institution’s Discovery Theater. As a dancer he performed In Mexican folkloric and American modern troupes and also attended physical theater school in Guanajuato, Mexico at El Estudio Busqueda de Pantomima Teatro. Daniel is a faculty member of the Nosara Yoga Institute in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, teaches combat veteran amputees as well as many specific populations and is the director of the Multi-disiplinary Yoga Teacher Training. Jolene Ryan

Jolene is a 500 ERYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher) through Yoga Alliance. She completed a 200-hour Holistic Yoga Teacher Training through Pure Prana Yoga Studio, a 300-hour Jivamukti Yoga Teacher Training through Jivamukti Yoga School and an 80-hour Pre-Natal Yoga Teacher Training through Golden Bridge Yoga. And has studied under many of the top US yoga teachers attending many workshops, classes and trainings in addition to the 3 teacher trainings she has completed. Jolene has been teaching yoga for five+ years through studios, one-on-one privates and semi-privates, corporations and workshops. It has been a 13+ year journey that continues to inspire and elevate her on many levels. Yoga is her lifestyle, not something she turns on and off when teaching or speaking on the topic.

Jolene is also a Holistic Health Counselor and a member of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. She graduated from The Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City accredited through Columbia University. Jolene discovered The Institute for Integrative Nutrition while attending a yoga conference in New York City after relocating to Washington, DC. Drawn to the program as it presented another opportunity to find more balance pairing it with her yoga practice to maintain a grounded and healthy wellbeing. Additionally, Jolene holds a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science from Texas State University.

Jolene has made two life transitions: Initially from collegiate athlete to a successful retail/operations career in New York City/Washington, DC. And presently, in her current career as a Yoga Teacher and Health Counselor, Jolene uses her combined life experiences, training and education to focus on the development of the whole person – inside and out. Students meet one weekend a month for seven months and every Monday night.  The Monday night session allows time for practice and opportunity to stay connected as a community during this journey.
