June Workshops at Radiance

Morning Sadhana with Marilyn Hyde

Saturday, June 5, 2010
5:00am - 7:00pm

Price: FREE COMMUNITY EVENT

The purpose of sadhana (daily practice) is to arrive at the moment when we go beyond our ego and its limitations. Morning sadhana - in the amrit vela - is a special time when we can sit before the altar of our own consciousness and have the opportunity to clean up our inner world. We surrender our ego, our emotions and our reactions to experience peace and calm.

Sadhana begins at 5:00am with 30-45 minutes of Kundalini Yoga and 62 minutes of chanting. Mantra sheets will be provided. Enjoy tea and cookies after the session.

Hip Openers with Daniel Hickman

Saturday, June 5, 2010
1:30pm - 3:30pm

Price: $30

The hips are not only the place for the legs to pivot from, but are also the base that cradles the upper body. Swadisthana, the 2nd chakra, is located here and its element is water. So, the hips will often dictate how fluid one can move. For some, their hips might be frozen for others their hips might be moving only in one particular current. This workshop will focus on specific movements and asanas that help bring balance to the 22 muscles that are associated with this important area of the body.

Benefits include: alleviation of back, thigh and sciatic pain, improved ease of physical performance, and the increase of circulation of prana-energy and blood to the digestive and sexual organs.

No experience is necessary to attend this vital workshop. Throughout the two hours spent you will carefully and curiously examine and tune in to the center of mobility your human body. You will walk away a different person! Open to All.

Svaroopa Yoga for Beginners

Sundays, June 6 & 13, 2010
5:00pm - 6:30pm

Price: $50 (2-Week Sunday Series with Annie Scheppach)

Each day offers new beginning. Have you been thinking about yoga, while at the same time thinking something like, I have never tried yoga before, I am too old, I am too inflexible. Does that sound familiar? Then there is an inner voice saying, yes, but I am tired of hurting, of stress and fatigue; there must be a solution. And there is!

For many students, a small class where everyone is a beginner feels more comfortable. And Svaroopa style yoga is perfect for every body. The physical practice is based on the understanding that the tensions in the body begin with the core group of muscles at the base of the spine-the muscles that attach to the tailbone. Once the tensions begin to release, then the body, starting with the spine, begins to realign itself from the inside out. The core release dissolves tensions throughout the body, causing the mind to still quite naturally. Are you ready to experience less stress and pain and fatigue, in other words more happiness and lightness?

This series, limited to 8 students, consists of two 90 min classes where you will also learn a home practice. Because of the unique offering, there are no drop-ins, make-ups, or credits for missed classes.
