MESSAGE FROM MASUDA

Our new Fall/Winter schedule is out and we've added new classes and fun workshops.

I'm very excited about our lunch time Karma Flow Yoga class on Mondays. Colby Cooper had the great idea of teaching a class that was donation-based for our students and helped support a nonprofit organization in our community.

We chose the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, which is a great organization that provides shelter for animals in need and helps them find good homes. Students can use passes to attend the class or they can donate whatever amount they want.

Karma Flow Yoga is a great way to practice your yoga and know that your actions are making a difference in our community.

We're also offering $5 class specials this month to celebrate the fall season. See details in the last section of the newsletter.

Much Love,
Masuda & Bodhi

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra

Many of us grew up with the belief that achieving success requires relentless hard work, grim determination and intense ambition. As a result, we may have struggled for years and even reached some of our goals but wound up feeling exhausted, our lives out of balance. Deepak Chopra observes that such desperate striving isn't necessary or even desirable.

The Seven Spiritual Laws are powerful principles you can use to fulfill your deepest desires with effortless joy. If you put them into practice, you'll realize that you can manifest whatever you've been dreaming about.

TOP 10 TIPS FOR SLOWING DOWN & ENJOYING MORE LIFE

1. Do nothing for 15 minutes after waking up.

2. Drive slowly. Appreciate your surroundings. Make it a peaceful time to contemplate your life, and the things you're passing.

3. Eat Slowly. Chew every bite, notice the tastes and flavors, and savor the experience.

4. Be mindful of whatever you're doing at the moment.

5. Metaphorically toss your phone in the ocean for half an hour a day.

6. Stare at your turned-off TV for 10 minutes before turning it on. This is a great opportunity to connect with yourself.

7. Block a half-hour of unplanned time in your schedule. Be open to whatever happens.

8. Connect with friends and family.
Leave behind your phone and your to do list to enjoy the company of loved ones.

9. Appreciate nature.
Take a deep breath of fresh air and enjoy the serenity of water and greenery.

10. Single-task.
Focus on one thing at a time. When you feel the urge to switch to other tasks, pause, breathe, and pull yourself back.

Childhood Ambition:
To be a ballet dancer and to live at the beach. I'm hoping to get closer to the second goal!

Favorite Yoga Pose and Why:
I love the graceful lines of dancer and the way it makes me feel strong and focused. Pigeon is another favorite because it always offers a little frustration followed by release.

Getting laid off from my job this year was a life changing moment. It opened up new possibilities and made me re-think what makes me happy.

One Thing You Want Students
to Experience in Your Class:

Acceptance, presence, relaxation and laughter.

Perfect Day:
Waking up early at the beach in North Carolina and taking my dog for a long walk followed by some yoga by the ocean. I'd then spend the day on the beach with my husband, family and friends relaxing and eating delicious food. At night there would be live music and a dance party in the sand.

Indulgence:
The flourless chocolate cupcake from Lavender Moon

Biggest Challenge:
Getting through a whole movie without falling asleep.

What's Playing on Your Ipod::
Jem, Xavier Rudd, Thievery Corporation, Talking Heads
